He taught us a couple Japanese words today. I was only interested in learning how to say "I like Cats". Craig liked learning how to say "I like fat people" Craig and I repeated it a few times then turned around to show off our knowledge to the Japanese girls standing in line behind us. They looked at us like we were being completely ridiculous (okay, we were) and laughed. Shoji shook his head in embarrassment. Later, when we went to the freakiest haunted house I have ever been to in my life (imagine a bunch of Samara type creatures creeping around and getting all up in your face/ Grudge type creatures) Craig and I kept saying "Neko, MEOW!" and a herd of Japanese women in front of us giggled, turned around and meowed back. I love Japan.
But really, the Japanese are absolutely fearless. From the clothes they wear, the food, their roller coasters, their haunted houses..everything is so extreme and crazy here! Eating poisonous fish, roller coasters that go up to 107 mph, and haunted houses that will make anyone weep in terror (okay maybe that was just me crying in terror) but it's so extreme here I feel like I can hardly keep up!
We woke up at 5:00 this morning to head to an amusement park, Fuji-Q Highland. It was located at the base of Mt. Fuji so it was an awesome view...and ridiculously cold. We did not think about it until we saw all the locals with ski poles and wool socks. The Countryside of Japan is beautiful though! While we were there we road dodompa, one of the fastest roller coasters in the world, and Fujiyama, one of the tallest roller coasters in the world. We were absolutely freezing but we had so much fun and enjoyed those couple of moments on the rides. Oh - and the creepiest haunted house in the world. I tried to tap out a couple times but the boys were not having that!
We couldn't complain too much as many of the Japanese girls were wearing short skirts with high boots. Some with tights, some not. It had to have been 20 degrees outside. You could practically see their neko's when they were standing above us in line or when the wind blew. They all looked super cute and fashionable, but I have no idea how they could stand the cold. Not to mention they all had fake eyelashes on and eye make up done up so well it looked professional! I mean, we were at an amusement park. I barely brush my hair for those back home! Not to mention they are all tiny, tiny, tiny..at amusement parks in the US you see people of many different shapes and sizes. Looking around at the girls on the subways and around Tokyo I feel huge!
Dan and I getting off the roller coaster..I cried all my make-up off it was so fast!
This looks so fun!! I can't believe you went to a haunted house in Japan though.. every Japanese horror movie I've seen left me scarred for life! I can't imagine it in person..
ReplyDeletePS the pic of you and shoji is hilarious.
